Linetime on the road for charity
When we were looking for volunteers to run as a Linetime relay team in the Yorkshire Marathon we thought our own “marathon man” Geoff Pitter would be a certainty. Geoff however had already signed up to run individually. The question then was who would win solo Geoff or Team Linetime. The answer may have to remain a secret to save the blushes of those involved.
This marathon is set to become one of the greats, being flatter and faster than New York or London. From the word go the 6,000+ places were snapped up in 3 days, attracting a world class field plus the many club and fun runners.
It was staged in conjunction with Jane Tomlinson’s well regarded “Run For All” brand. Along with other events this marathon stands as a part of the lasting legacy of the late fundraiser and campaigner Jane Tomlinson who raised almost £2m for charity by tackling a series of epic challenges, including cycling 4,000 miles across America despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
Congratulations to the Linetime team of Jo Fox, Lisa Brookman, Robert Petersen, Tom Spedding, Carl Appleyard and Duncan Burgess who raised money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK (www.justgiving.co.uk/linetime). The main event was sponsored by plusnet and the team event by James Potter Eggs which gives a new meaning to “go to work on an egg.”
